I am currently running X5 under windows 7 with no problems
I am looking at a computer upgrade and would like to know if anybody has run X5 under windows 8.

I have not I am running X6 and X7 under Win 8 works good I guess I can tommorow load X5 mu1 on and see if there any issues that jump out and if it will even open in Win 8 64bit pro.
Can you hang till tomorrow.

Waiting until tomorrow is not a problem. Better to do some research first rather than buy a new computer I cannot use for its intended purpose.

Ok took out my Dell Precision M4600 with Windows 8 pro 64bit 12gigs of ram and I7 Cpu along with Radion Fire GL GPU. installed the X5 and updated it to MU1 and it runs great. did a few 2D paths and some 3d paths and did both on wire and solids and surfaces. no hick-ups from this. make sure you get a laptop with dedicated video that will make a difference.
Almost all the laptops these days will come with the 64bit OS and a min of 4gigs of ram.
Do you know what your budget is and will this be used mostly for programming?
