So i am new to the CNC world. This spring i started a JGRO build.. presently i am about 80% the way through. A friend of mine is offering me his old CamTech 5x10 router. it has a Perske 7hp spindle currently on it.

From conversations with my friend. the idea would be to strip off all the electronics and fit in new NEMA 34 motors and build a controller (or buy on assembled).

Questions are:
i think i can wire up motors and get them to move the gantry x,y,z:can you actually build a controller that can control a 220w 7hp spindle?
are there any suggestions on what motors to get?
what about servo's? what is the difference between steeper and servo?
and of course..what else am i missing in my thinking about getting this table up and running again?
