motor cable cut by machine g540

My machine pinched off one of the motor wires and it shorted to ground. All I get now is the red fault light how do get the drive reset? Can I replace the broke axis with the 4th axis on the G540?

    Hi Bri4n

if in doubt give Gecko a call

the short circuit has most likely damaged the H bridge of one of the driver boards

you can either open the G540 and remove the G250 driver board that was connected to the damaged motor cable
if the G540 now works as a 3 axis controller you can return the G250 board to Gecko for repair

most of the G540 have 4 identical G250 stepper driver boards
but an early version had one G250 programmed with the step & direction inputs exchanged ( if I remember correctly on the A axis ?)

the other option is return the G540 to gecko

Yes you can use the driver that wasn't in use prior. If only needing 3 axis, you are in luck.
While you are waiting for the replacement.
A lazy man does it twice.
