    Spindle Brake

I have a 1.5kw air cooled china inverter spindle. SO far works great except that I really would like a spindle brake on it when I hit the emergency stop.

I see where they say there is a resistor connection on the inverter to use as a brake.

Is it possible to use an electric skillet (around 1000 watts) as the brake? I live in a tropical climate to old discarded space heaters are a bit hard to find. I also have some 800 watt ceramic heaters mistakenly sent to me by mistake from my China seller after I bought a dust shoe. Would this work?

The heaters should be about the correct resistance, around 60 ohms. 1000W would be about 50 ohms. Check the inverter manual for the recommended resistor value, and don't go lower. Higher resistance is OK, but would be less effective. Check the heaters with multimeter to confirm the resistance.

these are showing 92 ohms for the 800 watt heaters.

Put them in parallel, would give you 46 ohms. In about the right range I would guess.
