I create the toolpath for cutting fret slots along a surface of a fingerboard that is radiused. It does not seem to give me the correct number of passes and the post process has the wrong cutter.
Here is the toolpath generated by madcam.
I have a 0.023" cutter in the create/load cutter.
I am not sure why it is cutting four passes in the simulator since I chose to create a box with z-top zero an z-bottom 0.06. Next I chose 3-axis curve milling and selected the curved lines. When the box comes up I chose multiple z-cuts, raise z for multiple cuts at 0.1, and a step down of 0.02. My thinking is that it would take 3 passes of 0.02 each to reach the final depth of the groove at 0.06. I selected ramp depth and angle of 0. Not sure why. But in the post process it created 4 lines (passes)??? And the post process shows the cutter is wrong as well as the speed.
Please help with my toolpath, thanks in advance.
I have a Platform router , 3 axis, PC router with precise bits 0.023 cutters for this purpose. I have created the toolpath for the radius first and then cutting the profile, then this toolpath. I have not looked at them in Mach 3 yet.
