Hello, I posted this on another forum and was told it may be of interest to some of the folks here. Like many have, I read just about anything and everything about power drawbars....and there is plenty of info out there. I decided to go a different route....somewhat.
I own a Mikini mill and for sometime, I've been using a battery powered impact gun, actually a Milwaukee M12, 3/8" impact gun, to remove and install my R8 collets. One drawback with the gun is the battery, you have to keep it charged to maintain a constant torque on the collets. I thought about using an electric impact, but, they all seem to be kinda big and bulky.
Another option was to convert to the TTS system. I really wanted to try this, but, I have a bunch of ER R8 collets and would hate to see them just lay around not being used. Plus, the only benefit I see with the TTS, is it's ATC capabilities.
I know I won't have an ATC on this mill (if I ever needed an ATC, I would just get a Brother RoboDrill or a Haas Mini ), so I decided to just stay with the R8 stuff.
Anyway, here's my power drawbar...
