    Nema 23 8 Pole query

I have several Nema 23 Minebea square frame stepper motors. On removing an end cover I see 8 independant pole windings of which 4 windings are wired in series to give a resistance of 0.8ohms. I do not know the voltage or current ratings.

    They are all Minebea 23KM-K723-11V
The data sheet from nmbtc.com shows the 23KM-K series as High torqe microstep but it shows nothing between 23KM-K102v and K732V
Can anyone help me correctly identify these steppers. I would like to use them in my RF1 conversion.

    Many thanks

    George

    Hello George.
Would you mind telling me how to get the data sheets from nmbtc.com ?
I have some 23km-k033-04 steppers and I would like to know they exact specifications.
I have been browsing that site and cannot find the tech sheets, hopefuly they didnot removed them from the site.

    Thanks in advance.
    Konstantin.

    EDIT
    NVM, just googled it

    George,
Often motor manufacturers will build motors on their standard frame with custom windings for printer or other machine manufacturers. If thats what this is, you probably won't find the specs. Based on the motors they do list with similar coil resistance, I would guess that the current is somewhere around 2.5 to 3 amps.

I remember there was a way to decoding minebea model numbers (because I had to do it at one point) and sure enough I've found it on their site.

    http://www.eminebea.com/content/html..._custom_en.jpg

So your motors are nema 23, "M" for 1.8deg step angle ("P" would be 3.75 deg etc), "K" is the type of lamination, 7** means it's 76mm (2.9") long, *23 is the electrical variation, 11 is mechanical variation, "V" is flange type. Easy!

The strange thing is that they don't give voltage ratings, only current, and their 0.8ohm motors are 3A but the 3A motor is not a 7-series (length), it's a 0-series meaning it's 56mm long. And the 7-series with a 3A rating has a 1.15ohm resistance. So yours is a custom model (custom models have the bits after "723-" whereas standard models don't) that fits between these two and it's safe to assume your motor is 3A.

    hope it helps.

    Hi there,

I know its an older thread but you managed to discover the specs of the 23KM-K723-11V???
