Hi,

I have searched the internet for documentation for this PC but with no luck. Has anyone got any information, i.e. wiring diagram or connection information for the PCB? I have attached a photo which shows the PCB to be quite well labelled but there is no information on the connections to the drive amplifiers for example. I could take the PCB out and trace the PCB tracks but that would obviously be a bit time consuming.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a Syil x4plus and the east crystal electronics on it are not supported by syil. They ignore email after email from me. I'm about to have to gut the machine and buy all new electronics. I plan to go with centroid, I'm getting nothing but good reviews on their customer service, and equipment.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply to my request for information on the SYIL PCB. I have not attacked (!!) the PCB problem yet but I Have purchased a breakout board from a UK supplier ( who is near me and has been helpful in the past ). The breakout board is their HG08 which you can find on their website Electron Engineering Services CNC Retrofit Specialists under the heading " Breakout Board and PSUs". I have also purchased their U300-5LPT motion controller which you will find under the heading Motion Control on the website mentioned above. I intend to upgrade my system using the two boards and improve all functions of my system including the addition of speed control to the inverter drive. I realise that it may not be economical to purchase these items from the UK but I am sure you will find their equivalent in the USA.

whats the part number of the 18 pin IC ?


with more detailed photos it may be possible to trace enough of the circuit to workout how to connect the board
and the signal paths between the 25 pin printer port connector and the various other connectors

what stepper or servo drivers do you have ??

Hi John,

I have looked back on my photos and found I had some more pictures stored and Bingo! See attached, the 18 pin chip ident is clear. It is a 50V 500mA NPN Darlington transistor array with clamp diodes for driving inductive loads. Pin out and data from a Google search.

Do you need me to get the PCB out and try and trace the circuit?

I notice that there is only one signal line ( + Vcc and Gnd) going from the breakout PCB to each of the Stepper drivers. Surely there should be at least clock, direction, pulse and even an enable signal lines going to the stepper drivers?

no sure what happened to your pictures but

this is what I expect the board connections to be




its possible the enable input on the stepper drivers is not used

they may of used the four 16 pin box headers for the step , direction signals and the power to the stepper driver if its used with low power steppers

photos of both sides of the BOB will be useful

what are the stepper drivers you have ?

Hi John,

Sorry I forgot to add the attachments Doh!!! I think what happened is that I took the pictures with the PCB half out of the enclosure and so the connections (ribbon cable) from the breakout PCB to the Stepper drivers were disconnected and out of the picture. I took the pictures in March 2015 so my memory has slipped a bit!. I will take the enclosure off the mill again and look for markings on the stepper drivers and also see if I can get a picture of the track side of the breakout PCB.
