    Question Advice on small cnc

I've been lurking for some time trying to learn.

Woodworking is not my prime source of income but my small business is growing. We mostly build small signs, simple repeatable cut-outs like plaques and build custom furniture . I'm not interested in building and mass producing kitchen cabinets.

I really think we could pick up allot more business if I could move items faster. On most of the items like plaques we use a pattern, rough cut with a bandsaw and flush trim with a router and pattern.

I'm looking for advice on a small cnc machine (maybe 2'x3') that I could use to make small signs, reduce time on cutting shapes and other simple cutouts.

I'm interested in what machines most of you use and what you do with them?

    Bob,

K2 CNC makes a decent machine with a table size of 25" x 39". I've had mine for several months now and it paid for itself in the first 3 months. I've been real happy with its performance. I don't think it's as fast as a shopbot for 2D work, but I like its linear bearings, ballscrews, and "T" slot table. My work is exclusively 3D. They also have smaller machines that might interest you.
I'll be happy to answer any specific questions about my machine.

    Smile machine size

    Hi Bob,

I have a 4ftx8ft router from ez-router I am know you need a smaller router but my advice is to thank about the size of the wood you will be using .I do not cut out any thing the size of my machine but I can. I cut plastic that comes in 4x8 sheets this way I can cut parts the length of my table and do not need to cut the sheet to size before I can start cutting.
    I hope this helps.

    Max
