New here and in the CNC field

G'day I'm Rod from Perth WA. I've just discovered this site and what a mind blowing and bewildering site it is. I'm about to venture into the CNC routering for wood world for home use. To date the only machine I've seen is the Geetech iCarver 1520 at Beyond Tools in Malaga and watching machines on Youtube. I think I would like something with a bed size around the 900mm x 600mm.... but then. Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks in advance Rod

Do lot's of research read almost the entire internet an off you go .There is a great source of information here and on the mach forum I believe most of the questions have been asked but you have to search for the rite thing and that's the hard bit ,whether it relates to your drivers or software or spindle control or Mach if your using it ,then there are tools and wiring and you name it it can go on forever that I find is the fun of the build . Good luck.

Google for Rod Mels (user name RodM) , make contact and do whatever favors you can for the guy. If you are lucky, you'll get some time with him.
Why do this? Rod is one of the worlds most prolific builders of 'home shop' CNC equipment, and he's REALLY good at it.
    He's also in Perth.
If you are down my way, (Bibra Lake) you're welcome to drop in for a chat. I have a full sheet CNC router, a couple of laser cutters, and a converted CNC mill...
