Hello!!
I'm looking into starting a small business creating small, custom printed shapes from paper chipboard. Each shape is different, so I think a CNC cutter will be best, but I would love some guidance into what type of machine to buy.
Here's what I need:
- Each shape is 2x3 inches and relatively simple (I've attached a picture as an example of the complexity).
- I anticipate high volume, so I would like to cut from either a 36" x 24" or 36" x 48" sheet of paper chipboard of 1/16" thickness
- The chipboard will have a printed image on both sides of each shape, so the cuts need to be precise and can't leave a burn on either of the flat sides.
- I would like to spend somewhere between $4k and $7k
What kind of machine would fit all these requirements? And specifically what kind of cutting method would be best? I imagine a laser would give me the speed I need, but I'm worried the burning will show up the flat side. On the other hand, I don't know if a razor will be fast and durable enough, or if a rotary will create tears in the paper chipboard.
If anyone has experiences with these methods on paper chipboard, your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!!
Andrius
