    Question USB/Serial CNC Controller Help!

    I'm looking to build my own 2 axis CNC rig (X&Y). That being said I've been looking at tons of electronics and kits, I'm becoming overwhelmed. All I want right now is a CNC controller board that will take in G-code, over a USB or Serial connection. Ex: I want the tool head to goto (x1, y1). What are my options? I appreciate your help!

    Uc100 or uc300 are descent, you just need a bog standard non motion control bob to break out signals to your drivers.

    I have no idea what "bog standard non motion control bob" means, could you explain that please?

    Sorry for bad terminology but in all honesty I have trouble labelling them because it seems they are all simply called bobs, but there are many types, some have motion control inbuilt, others don't, the uc100 and uc300 are USB to parallel so just require a parallel port non motion control Bob. I use this one:

    https://www.cnc4you.co.uk/Breakout-board-CNC-Stepper-Motor-5-Axis-Relay-HG08?search=Breakout

    It has no motion control inbuilt and is fully opto isolated and each channel is also isolated so you can fry one channel and other channels continue to work but other than that, this is what I'd class as a bog standard Bob.

    If there is indeed a term for this type over the two in one motion and Bob type please enlighten me.

    Out of curiosity, what kind of cnc are you building with just 2axis?

    BOB= Break out Board,

    simply means a means of wiring one component to other components, in this case it would take the input and output signals for the motion control and make them easily accessible by use of screw terminals for wiring. What will be the final purpose of your 2 axis machine? have you looked at any of the poplular control software like Mach 3/4 and linuxcnc? there are some, but not many that have an actual G-code interpreter on board. Most motion control board rely on a control software that will take your g-code and covert that to a trajectory plan for the motion controller to understand.
