    SC10 Tool Libraries for Lathes

I'm in the process of trying to setup a lathe tool library in SC10 for my new 15L lathe which will use turret and gang tooling. I've created a new library and am trying to populate it with some of the standard index tooling that Tormach sells. In the Tool Library tab, under Parameters for a turning operation, I see entries for Inserts, Toolholders, and Turn Tools, each of which leads you to a dialog box where you specify the corresponding component. I've added inserts (say CCGT 3(2.5)2 and toolholders (say SCLCR 12-3C) which specify the geometry of the insert and the toolholder but there doesn't seem to be a way to assign those to a specific turret position or to each other. The Turn Tool dialog box does allow a way to assign a tool to a specific turret position, but the tool definition requires geometry to be entered from scratch and there seems to be no way to use the insert and tool holder data from the other dialog boxes.

Has anyone figured out if there is a way to get these 3 type of data to be used together for turning operations?

110 views and no replies - does that mean that no one knows or no one uses tool libraries? Just curious...

I posted the same question in the Tormach Lathe section and followed up with a discovery or two of my own there so if anyone is interested they may want to check there.

I would help If I had experience. At best I have basic sprut lathe experience and no lathe tool setup experience. As an avid sprut mill user I follow and read as many of these threads and other media as possible in hopes of picking up the smallest of hints that might help. Couple years of use and I still learn something new almost every time I use it. Your post in the other thread had some great info and insight into how the tool library connects to dropdown selections. Little tid bits of info like that help me find solutions to problems or understand how the program works a little faster.

Well, as usual any version of SprutCAM has its share of little surprises waiting for you and I'm trying to gradually work through the minefield and make some Evernotes on workflows that work. It can be slow slogging. One tidbit for those that want to work with the Tormach lathe - use the 12/11/15, 8:34 am 15L configuration if you are using Imperial units. The other configuration seems to be the wrong scale or maybe it is intended for those working in metric units.
