Gonna try this here, move it if you have a better place for it...hate to ask but can anyone point me in the right direction to interface a mdrive hybrid 23 spi programmable motion controller. the drive has a 10pin non locking com. header which i happen to have a connector for (just flying leads on other side), and the software for programming the drive. just for tfoi i hit scan in the software and it searches all com ports for a connection (and fails currently as nothing is connected) the information i have found online regarding SPI, RS422, 232, 485, is definately thorough and i have been digging around learning what i can but really i just need to program this drive and i would like to save the $150 on a programming cable if i can. i have at my disposal PCs with parallel ports, serial ports, usb. firewire, pci parallel cards, arduino, USB ---> RS232 adapters. Heres a link to the product manual where they show the pinout for SCK,SS, MOSI, MISO, G on the mdrive, hoping someone can tell me if anything i have laying around here can be repurposed into the cable (or suitable standin) i need.
(the motor is a MDM223 triple stack nema 23 with built in motion control and driver but without encoder. i have two of these same drives workign great that i have not had a need to reprogram but this one will not work properly with the current programming.)
