Hi,
I am looking to purchase G201 for mini-Lathe CNC using MACH3 (parallel port connection).
I have questions about wiring.
1). TERMINAL 10 (+5Vdc) is said to be connected to the controller +5Vdc, I got breakout board from parallel port; then would it be alright if I connection parallel port pin 14, 16 , or 17 to your terminal 10 (enough current draw)??
Or do I have to jump 5Vdc out directly from the PC?

2). TERMINAL 7 DISABLE - for CNC application: Can I connect Emergency switch (Normally OPEN) to terminal 12 which then if switch press would short it to the ground and disable the drive? Is that how you connect it?

The parallel port pins cannot furnish any current to drive the 5 volts of the Gecko drives. There has to be a 5 Volt power supply in the system.

The following should explain the connections. The + side of the 5 volts goes to the Gecko drive 5 Volt pin, the negative side of the 5 Volt supply goes to the ground on the breakout board you are using.

I just noticed on my drawing that I have shown pin 12 as where the +5 volts attaches on the Geckos. Just attach the 5 volts to the correct pin.

At this moment in time, my mind draws a blank as to whether it attaches to pin 12. I think it attaches to pin 10.

Sorry, I haven't wired one in over a year.

what does it means "breakout board" ? i'm italian i've difficoulties to translate this word. If power supply +5V is taken by USB port , could I connect ground USB to pin 18-24 parallel port??

The breakout board is the interface board between the parallel printer port and the CNC electronics.

Yes. That is the correct wiring.
