Just finished my Centroid retrofit. Unit is under power finally and I see my head w/ the 0-4200 is rather noisy in certain ranges. The noise is in the mid range and upon going 3K+ towards 4K rpm it seems to really quiet down. I cannot seem to get the lo high knob to move from Hi to Lo either. Did not want to really force it? Or do you move it while under low RPM power?

I cannot find any manuals. It's a 1985 Mill. I'm not sure what or if there are some lube points, belt adjust points etc. Any help appreciated.

I had a 1994 unit. The high/low range was adjustable with the unit off. The lever should move outward to make the change if memory serves.

Your noise(s) is probably from the motor pulley. Its not hard to pull the motor off and run it to see if the clutch is causing problems.

Hey, thanks for that note. There was a zerk in the rear on the neck just behind the head. I put in some of the EP grease and it went way way down. much smoother sounding now.
WE will pull the head as soon as the new project gets done. I think I like restoring these more than I like making things. LOl
As it's CNC I think I need to move it over to direct drive anyway. Blah! Hopped to keep it as-is but I'm not sure how you do that w/ a CNC to VFD controller drive speed setup.
