Question Haas alarm 102 and 105 Z axis position error?

    Good Morning Guys

I am working on a Haas UMC750. Initially it had a dirty prox sensor on the Z axis. I was able to clean it off and get the machine to move. But, upon resetting and hitting the power up button the z axis homed in the negative direction. It now is at the bottom of its z travels and upon resetting and powering up it alarms out with 102 servo turned off and 105 z axis position error? The 105 Z axis position error i cant find on the internet at all. Every 105 error is 105 Servo error too large. So i am further confused as to why my 105 error says position error? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Is there any way to get this z axis up off the z negative position it is in? Why did it home in the negative direction to begin with? Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer. Much appreciated.

If the machine doesn’t see the home sensor, or sees it falsely active (like if it’s stuck high or grounded),
it may home the wrong direction or stop prematurely.

What he said. The machine goes up in Z until the prox switch triggers. Then it stops and backs off until it finds the zero point on the motor encoder. Each axis does the same thing.

Your machine went the wrong direction because it thinks it's already at the limit switch and now it's backing off, waiting for the prox sensor to shut off. Go back and check for chips on that Z limit switch / sensor. I'm not familiar with next gen controls but, if you can, go into the diagnostics screen (press Params / Diagnostics twice). Page up and down until you see the limit switch statuses. See what your Z home switch shows.

If you have gone too far, there may be a limit to how far the machine will hunt for that home switch.

Again: not sure NGC works this way but, there is a dangerous setting for helping with this. Setting 53, Jog without Zero Return. It does what the name says: allows you to jog the machine and slam it into mechanical stops, damage way covers, etc.

If you turn that setting on temporarily, you should be able to jog the Z back into the general neighborhood of home, then be able to Power-Up Restart the machine and let it find the home positions. It doesn't need to be exact. Somewhere within three to five inches should be plenty close enough.
