Question Importing .IGES file into SW 2007

SolidWorks newby here, and I have a problem- when I opened an .IGES file in SolidWorks 2007, I saved it as a .SLDPRT file the whole part is listed on the FeatureManager as Imported1 and there is no way to edit it because when you select any surface, Imported1 in the FeatureManager is highlighted and you cannot edit seperate surfaces. Is there a way to make this so you can pick individual surfaces and be able to edit them like a normal .SLDPRT file? Thanks, Shane.

I would assume that you need to find edges/surfaces, or whatever it is called. Right now it is seen as a single solid. In edgecam, it's called find features.

If you wish to CONVERT imported solids into features you will need to use FEATUREWORKS (comes with SW office).

Otherwise the "dumb solid" is definately editable. You can cut, extrude, hole wizard or whatever you want to any surface of that part.
