Looking for a quote for machining of plastic parts from Delrin (black) or similar Engineering Nylon.

Assembly dwg for information only. We will install inserts etc at this end.

Machine finish is important, as are clean radii. But tolerances are not critical (+/- 0.2mm)

Dwg attached, but this is what the end product looks like

Please quote for quantities 25, 50 and 100 pieces each and lead times.
I'll need to see a sample of GH-02 and GH-03 to check the finish before comitting to purchase in quantity.

While finish is important, do the parts need to be as high gloss as the photo appears?

Most of the gloss in this image is from silicon spray

A consistent machined finish is fine.

Do the 2.0mm rad fillets need to be machined on? Or can the edges just be broken? This would require 2 machining set ups.

Also, could the width of the parts be 19.05mm (.75") instead of 20.0mm? That is standard material thickness here in the US.

In the past the 2mm rad fillets have been put on with a router table by highly skilled artisans, with the odd finger missing

Cutting from 3/4" stock would be acceptable if the stock surface finish was clean.

Previously we've had these:

Machined on a mill - Bridgeport J2 with manamatronic control system
Excellent quality, but so painfully slow that I was tempted to stick my head under the spindle to end it all.
Cut on a router - unfortunately the finishing cut was done in a double pass and this left a less than ideal finish. Then edge fillet and holes.
Waterjet cut profile - then edge fillet and holes - Unfortunately we never seemed to have much luck with the waterjet pieces - lots of wavy cuts, tapered parts and some parts that were not even the right shape.
Not to mention the surface finish ...

Open to suggestions on a better way to skin this cat.

Looks like to me waterjet and cnc combo would work the best here. The waterjet is probably needing a back-up or sacrificial material. I work with a cnc where I am and a waterjet friend down the road. We will look at the parts and see what we can do.
[email protected] we could also possibly put some of the part in an existing molding base and injection mold the parts. We do long and short run molding.
