Have you checked their web site recently? They are scanning some stuff at a museum using this scanner. Some examples can be found at: http://www.intricad.com/museumgoudaproject.html
I heard that all images are actual 3d scans!!!

I saw that they also have a new project ongoing called GRASP, this is a topology scanner. There is an alpha release available for download at www.grasp3d.com

Remember it is still an alpha release, guess the web page will improve later.
But have you checked the manual posted on the side? it explains how to make a scan, it is pretty easy. It should also give you a pretty good idea of what it is and how it works.

All you need to get this apha going are some cleap and easy to get items, like a pen, paper, a square stick, al laser and a camera.

A thing I really like it to be able to export to many different file formats and having the scan build up in real time. You can even turn the scan on the screen while scanning.
