Hi , im struggeling to find a way to fit an interlock to a Fadal. The machine still operates when the doors are open. Causing health and saftey issues.
It is possible to fit an interlock thorugh the emergency stop switch , which puts a break on the spindle. But using this method would stop the machine each time doors are opened making it viable to have to jog the machine each time to stop the machine bombing out. This would waste alot of operators time.

Is there any other method of doing this?

LOOK ON TOP OF THE DOORS( WHERE THEY MEET WHEN CLOSED) ,,, THAT IS WHERE THE INTERLOCK IS LOCATED,,

CALL FADAL AND THEY WILL HOOK YOU UP.

A Fadal engineer has been to have a look and reccomended wiring in a lock, connected to the e-stop. This is not a good fix !
There must be some electronic switch in the back that has broken or something that stops the lock operating. This is a very old machine,

All the mold makers I work with, had the interlocks disabled for a reason. So they could open the machine up while its running to make adjustments to airline or coolant lines without having to restart the machine up or reload the program. Does the door want to stay open?

The doors must stay closed whilst in cycle. Health and safety issues.

Oh they keep them close, its just sometimes they need to open it for a minute to make adjustments. If they left the interlock attached to the sensor, it would shut the machine down each time the door would be opened. Not very profitable! The business(machine work in general) is just not healthy to start with. Are you guys milling brillium? Our guys wear respirators when working near that stuff, even if they open the machine for a second.

If i had my way i would have them open to. But we employee not so skilled people to operate the machines (large production) so health and saftey is critical.
No Brillium just aerospace garde materials like ali, inco, s/steel.

Actually the intial advice given you was pretty close to how many of the interlocks are wired on most machines. Most machines have a 24v DC safety circuit, the estop is found on this circuit also. When the circuit of the interlock is broken ( i.e. the door opens) the machine halts. Thats how they are desined to work. Are you asking what to do to replace yours that is missing, or just for a mechanical lock to keep the doors from opening?
