chopperframe. and me the stupid bastard who deisgns it =)

well.. thought that i could share a little sideproject that i have,

i am building a motorcycle . a chopper to be more accurate. but since i want to go a little different way with the frame i am using solid..

be aware that this is just prestages, and testing of designlayout..

since a thought that the most interesting is the progress with the frame and other machined parts , i don't want to clutter the board with a lot of mumbojumbo.
so if you are intersted in following the whole build you can find it here project sinister
if you aren't, well then . i will just keep this thread updated with the frameprogress since that is what the thread is about =)

I think I asked you this before, but what is a Honda SP1? I don't think we have those in the US? Or maybe another name?

And why would you want to supercharge it? Turbo's are much more efficient, yet unpredictable on a bike, sorta. Turbo would be easier I would think, probably cheaper too. Not saying you should take the easy route, but I've only seen 2 supercharged bikes and I think they did it just because it's VERY rare, but that's respectable.

And then some! It looks like a monster frame that's gone anorexic and takes it up the ass!

I hope you don't take this the wrong way but I would have a rethink on the frame. I see a lot of truss members that frankly don't really serve to carry the load. I think if you are trying to create a triangulated spaceframe you should really figure out what you load paths are and how much bracing you really need and more importantly, where you need it. Frankly there are some design elements that could potentially be very dangerous. Perhaps a simpler backbone style frame might be a better place to start.

well. i think that you are right. but since i am like i am when it comes to projectthreads , i will show the whole way , and that includes even the badest ideas =)

naw it is ok , that fram that i posted does infact only have one or two features that i like. the frame will be a more basic frame , not a triangluar spaceframe ,
but i want to thank you for the input ,

looks like a wide frame for a 1 litre donk, why not bless it with thin chromoly tube and a hidden shock under the seat.
It would be cool to see a chopper popping mono's.
I have a trike design that I whittle away at every so often for my soon to be midlife crisis.
Keep on track, it will be unique.

yes it is a little bit to wide and a little bit to short. but i can handle a 300mm wide rear tire :rainfro:

I gotta say if I was going to build a frame and use solids, I certainly wouldn't use rounds. Hex or square would be much nicer to work with I think. Getting all those arcs perfectly mated will be pretty troublesome. I personally think it would look better as well. With the round, it looks like tube. Why not make it look like the solids that it is?
Just my take. Not my project.

well.. i can agree with you in the aspect that square pipes could look cool . and defenetly uniqe. but i really like chopperframes built with round pipes .

but i will defenetly look in to building a frame using square pipes. =)
