I have 2 manuals for the Ultimax control that I made. They are follow your nose simple. I trained my son who was 16 at the time and had never seen a cnc. In one day he was able to do all the things in the Intro manual and he taught himself all I did was watch to see where I screwed up the manual and fix it. I sell the Intro and Advanced together for $70.00 USD. I can send you a sample page if needed from my email [email protected] I also do ball bar tesing, sell a keyboard and tray for the Ultimax controler (like on VM1's and VM2's). I can send a photo of it also if you are interested in it.

That is flat out amazing that you can train a 16 year old in a day and make a machinist out of him! Must be a real good composition of a training Manual!

I never said he was a machinist. He sucessfully got though the training manual. I used him to make sure I spelled out every button selection. I figured if he could do it with out any experience any one could. He has run cad a couple of times since then is now 20 at Purdue going into Aeronautical Engineering. However he did score 1950 on his SAT. And was selected into honors engineering at Purdue. Dad is the grunt for 30 years.

A Manual will only go so far. I think it would be a much better Idea to have a training VIDEO that will show hands on how the controller works! One could break it down into steps just like a machinist would in real live.
1. Show how to turn on and calibrate the Machine
2. Explain some of the Basic settings in the controller
3. How to find and store 0 position.
etc.
etc.

I have trained a couple of guys on our machines but I noticed that every time you give them something to read they would skip over the important part cause most people don't want to read.

I'm not saying that a training manual is a bad Idea but I think a detailed Video or something like a Power Point presentation would be a more potent approach.
