    question about xlo mill

I just acquired an older XLO #602 milling machine. It doesn't appear to have any locks for the table on either axis or any provisions for one. Am I missing something? The knee has them, but I don't see any way to lock the table. I'm not very familiar with this brand, but it does seem to be a heavy built machine.

    xlo 602

    Hi there,

I can forward you a PDF copy of the manual for this mill if you would like it. Just email me direct to ghynes(at)mts.net and I will reply with the file as an attachment. Just insert the @ sign into the email in the appropriate spot.

The manual appears to show locations for table clamps (axis locks) but the file is a scan of a poor photo copy so the pictures aren'ty the greatest. The general location though is obvious.

    Cheers

    Gerald

Yes - the 602 has (did have) table locks just like a Bridgeport.

I agree that most of them did have table locks, however mine does not have them and never did. There is no place in the casting for one where it would have normally been. I believe that this machine may have originally been some sort of a cnc model that no longer has the servo motors. This machine has ballscrews instead of the standard screws. I thinks I may fab some sort of lock to lock the screws like the servo would have done.

    Thanks,
    Jeff
