How do I CNC this kind of part? It is curved and looks very hard to cut. I want to make one for a much bigger motor. The ones that I can buy are for small motors only.

You should CNC it as a flat part and then bend it.
I assume you want aluminum. Use utility grade for formability (3003 series)

I have no clue - But I see these on EBay that people sell them and say they are CNC'ed. It is a motor guard for a Losi Mini-T 1/18 scale truck. Protects the motor from rocks. I am putting a much bigger motor on my Mini-T and want to make a bigger motor guard myself since I can not buy one.

I also want to be able to CNC parts like in this pic too. Not sure how to tell it to do the curved edges???

Depending on material hardness, thickness and width, this could be done by hand forming the radius around a appropriate size pipe and the 90 degree by clamping in a vice and bending this angle with a block of wood and hammer. Try a piece of scrap first to experiment.

studysession, this item is not something that can be explained in a few post, perhaps not at all, I would not worry at this point how to CNC that part because first you have to be able to draw it in a suitable CAD and in a suitable manner for which you want to create the necessary toolpaths.

Yes, I study a lot. This has been a huge learning curve for me. right now I am researching dividing heads for cutting gears too. There is just so much to learn.

You have to remember that almost any type of equipment can be CNC.
That motor guard could have been made in turret punching machine or lasercut (CNC) and the formed in a brake press (CNC).
That part is not a good candidate to be machined from billet, although it is possible - difficult but possible.
The blue parts are machined from billet and will take multiple setups and programs.
You could do this with ACAD and 2.5d machining but would be VERY long and tedious process. You really need those parts 3D modelled so they can be machined using both 2.5 & 3D operations.

Just trying to get an idea - Eventually I want to get where i can make these kinds of parts myself. Want to get where I design my own hop-ups and cut them out and have unique stuff at the track that no one else has.

That is what I want. That and I just enjoy the learning and making these parts myself. It gives me great satisfaction when I do a part and do it right.

Sorry man, couldn't resist! There is almost an open market over here for custom RC car parts since almost everything we buy is imported from the US.

It's all good! Today I am CNC'ing an EMaxx brace for a friend who has a Gorilla chassis. This brace will not fit a stock chassis.

I just enjoy doing it. I have posted on another board - tell people if they cad something that I can use on my cars. I will CNC it for them for free. This way I get some cool hop-ups drawn up that I can use myself.

I love doing this stuff.

Yeah - I would cut someone a part for free out of 6061 aluminum, long as it meet a couple of requirements.

Had to be in a format I can read and open and had the ability to cut it
All measurements have to be metric
It needs to fit onto an RC that I have -- I need to be able to get something out of it

Then I would pay for the material and cut it out and ship it to them for free. I think it is a good chance for someone that does not have a CNC mill to get some custom hop-ups. It is also good for me to get the same hop-ups for my RC's. LOL
