The newer MC's have one motor that does 2 tasks and has to switch between indexing the magazine and driving the tool change arm. (by the way if anyone from Okuma is reading this it is NOT a good idea - they all get screwed up eventually) What you hopefully can do is to try to go to Manual and go backwards thru your tool change routing and it will correct itself. If it will not allow you to do this, you will need to do a much more complicated routine to straighten it out.

FYI if you do have a tool changer issue, it's a bad idea to power off the machine to try to correct it since this kills your spindle orientation and hopelessly sinks you into the complicated method of straightening it out.

If you need to do the complicated method, I'd suggest to get a service tech in and have them teach you how to do it so you don't damage the tool changer. Then you will be prepared for what to do when (not if) this occurs again.

The sequence of the tool changer can be found in your maintenance manual and will give you a good idea of what is occurring with each step. Use caution since there is more than one type of sequence depending if you have a magazine style or matrix style and what type of machine.

    Best regards,

generally it's risky to do by Yourself for first time. the reason could be bad level of machine (the axis swich pin is touching and wearing) or some backlash in magazine wheel or - worse - tool change arm missalignment.
If it is MX-H machine, it's possible to describe procedure here, but it is really risky.
First is guiding the machine out of faulty status. Next is locating of reason. Some parts maybe need replacement there.
