    hf 8x12 no 13 tpi

Hello, could anyone tell me how to get 13 tpi on my factory harbor freight 8x12, or how to figure out the gearing.

I'd made up a spread sheet for mine. 12.96TPI is about as close as I could get to 13. This is theoretical only, I haven't actually tried it, so I don't know if the gears will actually fit in this configuration.

    Gear A = 40
    Gear B = 80
    Gear C = 75
    Gear D = 90
    Gear E = 100
    Gear F = 45

Unless you need better precision, that should work ok...

Copied from another forum... credit to Richard Kleinhenz at the Lathemaster Yahoo group. I get a feeling if you walk down the list you will evetually hit one that works in reality as well as just by the numbers.

Here are some gear combinations that cut 13 TPI with a very small error. These are B-C-D-E-F defined the same as on the lathe's chart

actually the top 5 or 6 are the closest, then then next bunch (7 or 8) then the rest.

use this formula: 12/((40/B)*(C/D)*(E/F)) the first batch comout to 12.96, then next 12.95, and the last 12.92. close enough...
