    Need Small pieces scanned

I need some small (2" x 4") hardwood objects I carved by hand, scanned (digitized) so that i can replicate them with a CNC router.

Please tell me what your prices are and where you are located so that I can factor in shipping charges.

I would also like to know the resolution of the scanned point cloud.

    Thank you.

Send me a pic or two and I'll see what I can do for you.

If you're going to be doing a lot of this

You might find it worthwhile to invest in a 3d scanner of your own. This would let you keep the whole process in-house, which would save a lot of time (and eventually money) over sending your pieces across the country for scanning. The Roland LPX-60 would be ideal for this sort of thing, with granularity (resolution) of .008"; I sell those laser scanners for $7975. I also offer scanning services; small objects like those you're describing generally cost about $200 each, although complex forms can cost more.

    Thanks

Thanks. I plan on starting with a digitizing probe and eventually working my way up to a laser scanner. I am just starting out and need to keep costs down. I will start with having a few pieces scanned and then mass produce them.

I've scanned some pretty intricate detail down to 1/2" components (0.0007" resolution, .0004" accuracy)

They actually have a free trial for a low cost 3D scanner. I've used it, and it works pretty well for small items. The key is a good focusing laser and a lot of patience.

I purchased the full license, and was happy with the quality, but found it a little slow. I have since moved on to structured light, which gets us far better results.
