just getting started and hit a snag

I have 1993 3016 88hs. I am trying to cut a pocket with a wall thickness of .162 in Aluminum. Instead I get an upper Y wall thickness around .192. The lower Y wall is correspondingly thinner. A Fadal service tech set up the machine, checked thrust bearing etc. Also the pocket dimensions are perfect and I wouldn't expect them to be if there was a mechanical problem. Me and two others have zeroed and re-zeroed the Y axis offset more times than I can count. I created another cut file with a simpler pocket in hopes I’d find the problem but the wall measurements were the same. Is there any kind of parameter in the control that I need to clear? I’d appreciate any help.

It sounds like the material at the top of the wall is being deflected away from the cut.

You're right. I'm embarrassed to say after all the effort and hair pulling it turned out to be a problem with the vise.
