    Newbie question

Never posted before but have an issue I just can't figure out.

I imported my iges file and the window pops up convert to inches, which I click yes and it loads the program.

My parameters are set to inches but when I put a material box around part it was doing metric so I click the measurement tool and sure enough its running metric.

I check my parameters on the machine tab its set to inches so I rebooted and did every again. in fact twice, still running metric????

Just a beginner and not sure what to do next.

I designed the part in Geomagic Design and its the only time it will not convert to inches and I am stumped.

    Re: Newbie question

Is your igs file drawn in inch or metrc?
I have imported igs files in metric and when I click yes to convert them its super small, I think by the 25.4 factor.
I would draw the file in inches then import it into sprut as an inch file.
Sprut needs to be set up for inches as well in system setup.

I just go back to the cad program and change the units there as its much easier to do for me in the cad program.

I'll go back and look at cad drawing I thought I had every thing in inches but the learning curve is getting pretty long for me.

    Thanks

    Re: Newbie question

IIRC, GMD exports IGES files in metric units, so that's why you have to do the conversion when you import. Which version of SprutCAM are you using? In SC9, you can specify working units as Imperial or Metric from the Utilities menu item, then System Setup | Measurement Units. If you use a tool library that should also be set for Imperial units.

I think I got it, when I export the drawing from geomagic the preference was changing it to metric seems to be working now.
teaching yourself cad and cam is a challenge.
