Why no indexable corner-rounding face mills?

Hi, I recently used an indexable 3.5" wide face mill in my RF45 on steel and was really impressed. I was getting a mirror finish. I think why it worked so well was the the sheer mass of steel spinning --nothing can withstand it. All that inertia probably makes up for my relatively small 1.5hp motor.

I was thinking of using face mills more and want to get the 45-degree and radius type as well.

To complete that collection of face mills I thought I'd also get a "corner-rounding" face mill as well. It turned out this existed only in my imagination.

Why don't they make this kind of face mill?

Aren't there corner rounding inserts available for your face mills?

Jeez, I don't think so. Concave inserts require a face mill with concave beds, right? All the face mills I've ever seen back up the insert almost completely, so I don't think it is a matter of just getting concave inserts. But heck, I'm a newbie, what to I know.

I suggest "googling" corner rounding inserts. I did and there's at least ten pages of corner rounding tools, many of which are carbide inserts. They may not fit your particular cutter bodies. Companies like Ingersol, Iscar, Sandvik etc. have corner rounding inserts for their cutter bodies, some of which are interchangeable with other manufacturers.

I recently bought a 45 one from Shars.
I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but should be fair quality. I only have a 1.5 HP spindle on the new mill.

My 80/20 mill is only about twice the weight of this face mill, so won't be using it there.

The picture is wrong on the site.
This one only has three inserts.
