    Fanuc Comm software

i recently got promoted at work and one of the areas that i am now responsible for has 2 vertical axis milling machines. the person who was in charge of the area didn't keep the software up to date. i am looking for the best software to use to communicate with the fanuc controllers and then be able to open, edit, and save the programs list.

Do you have a CAM system? Many of those include the editor and comm package with them.

If not, you can get free comm software from Cadem and from OneCNC. Or you can purchase stand alone systems, such as Predator CNC Editor from Predator-Software.com. It also includes comm.

you dont need to keep that kind of "software tool" up to date. it does a specific job and that's all. transfer program, nothing more. Or edit text (CNC program) and nothing more.
I use software from 1990 to transfer programs using an old 386 laptop. it works fine the machine does not care that the software is out of date by 20 years.
we have the same problem at my work with our 'software guys' upgrading our PCs to the latest versions. all it does it bog down the computer and eventually it runs too slow to be usable so they throw it away and buy newer faster ones. Every time they do that I get hold of the old PCs for free then format and re-install operating system and it runs like new.
3 cheers for air-head software guys who need to upgrade PCs to keep their job
