I recieved mine from Axminster a few weeks ago. Very happy with the mill and the service from Axminster. Busy working on homebrew CNC conversion now.

Ouch of interest, where did you get the CNC conversion kit from, and for how much?

Or are you going for the homebrew approach?

I'm going for the homebrew approach. I did look at the kit that Rhonmac were selling but decided against it. I really liked the look of the PROMICA kit but lead time and cost steered me towards a DIY approach

X and Y axis are now complete. I have redesigned the leadscrew supports and used angular contact bearings with proper pre-load adjustment instead of the sieg thrust bearings. I am very happy with the results: the mechanisms are smooth and free and backlash with the existing ACME screws is currently about 1 1/2 thou. I dont know how long it will stay like that though!

Gone for direct drive 1.8NM steppers for X and Y. Planning to use a 3 NM stepper with 2:1 reduction for the Z.

Will be using a homebrewed controller based on the PICstep drives and running Mach 3.
