I manage the engineering department at a small-mid size cabinet shop. We are looking for a new software to do standard and custom cabinets, along with custom millwork items like reception desks, nurse stations, etc. We have been looking at Inventor with SolidCIM, Solid Works, or TopSolid so far. Can anyone provide any feedback on how these have worked for doing custom millwork? Or is there another program we should be looking at? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Imo it's much faster to do reception desks and nurse stations in AutoCAD. Why go through the trouble of creating 3D models when you can just draw the parts in AutoCAD and cut them.

I've just never seen any package really good (fast) at custom items like those.
