    G540 - Rev3 versus Rev4.

I don't want this question to become monotonous, but....I have just received my G540 and had a look at it this evening and it appears to me that I have received a Rev3 version.(according to the green sheet supplied with it).

I have seen that many of them are being upgraded to Rev 4, - well, that's ok but at approx NZ$37 each way to America and back to New Zealand to have it changed, may not be a good option!

Now before I do anything about it, I would like to know if I still have a sound piece of equipment if I leave it as it is, but if it isn't, then where do I stand? - can I have it modified later on (on the same terms as others are presently receiving).

I am happy to use it in the present form so long as it is reliable and does the same job as the newer version.

Any help or advice here will be greatly appreciated.

The manual is the last thing to be updated for revision changes on the sheet, so it will still say REV 3. To make sure you have a REV 4 all you have to do is take off the can by prying it off and checking the screen printing on the edge of the board near the fuse and the 12-pin header. It should say "G540 REV 4" in white lettering.
