    Question DIY Handyscan

I've been researching 3d laser scanning for a bit.

This seems like the most awesome implementation so far:

Question is, how would one go about building one for, say, under Forty Thousand Dollars or so?

    I think I see..
positioning via parallax(dots as ref) and two of these at right angles. Friend of mine sees two lidar scanners, arrays of diodes.. n' stuff.

    It's for a costuming project.

They use a laser line pointer for digitizing.

You might want to check out terradat.com they have a 30 day demo of a photogametry they produce if you can figure out how to use it you could at least finish your project. the software is $15k but 30 days free is okay
