I went to the Hollingsworth auction today ,inspection monday auction tuesday and wednesday here in Greenville SC. Hollingworth was one of the richest men in SC his company made textile machinery he died a few years ago employed a lot of people. I always wanted to see the place but is was strictly off limits to the public . Anyway the place is huge about the size of 3 supper center walmarts . Lathes mills grinders as far as the eye can see. Some of the bed mills were longer than my house, Blanchard grinders with a 5 foot chucks had to climb stairs to get to it What impressed me the most was all of the machinery was american made except some Clausing and Okuma lathes no china stuff . The big american made iron that's no longer made. Any of you younger guys in the area you should go see it ,manufacturing plants like these are getting rare to see. I left amazed but also sad another great company has gone out of business.
