I am surprised that there are not more questions or new posts about this machine.
I am having very good results with my machine so far. I have cut steel on it without any problems about a month ago. 4140 was the material. Surface finish was very good and the positional tolerance was spot on.

I know this machine is a bit more on price to it's competitor on this forum but I do feel you get what you pay for.

I know what you mean. I've been researching mills from Tormach, Industrial Hobbies, Novakon, and of course, Mikini. I'll probably be purchasing here in the next 2-3 months, so I'm still deciding on what to buy but Mikini is on top of the list right now. I am leaning towards the 1610L because it offers an integrated, complete milling machine that has been designed from the ground up to combine all components together.
If the Mikini is able to cut steel like you claim, than it is definetly a runner. I don't think that people on cnczone are unimpressed with the Mikini mill. Mikini might not have the popularity of other mills on this site yet. Maybe its because it's a relatively new company? Or, maybe owners of Mikini mills are always out in their shops making chips and don't have time to post on forums

Either way, for the price, it is close to mills offered by Tormach, Novakon and IHCNC once an enclosure is built, coolant added, DRO, spindle meter, bla bla bla. Maybe a little more expensive, but I'm convinced you get what you pay for.

Also, time is money... set-up and assembly take time.

Once un-crated it might have been a whole 1/2 hour to get running. It took a lot longer than that to assemble my Tormach.

Like others on this thread I have been trying to decide which mill to buy. Currently researching Tormach, Mikini, Syil X7, Novakon etc. Have you been able to do an "apples-for-apples" comparison between the Tormach and your new Mikini? Same code, same material, same tooling and feeds. Your un-biased feed back of dimensional accuracy, surface finish, perception of machine rigidity would be appreciated.
My decision is made a little more difficult as I am in Australia, so I need to import and maintain the machine without the comfort of a local agent.

As a footnote, Tormach seems to have a lot of presence on the web either on youtube or forums like this but Mikini only have people placing orders for the machine, very few comments from owners on how they like / dislike their Mikini. So I would value any comments from owners of Mikini cnc - good, bad or indifferent.
