    Cnc hot wire measurements incorrect

    Hi everybody

My univelop drivers and bob and vexta motors cnc hotwire machine
    has revealed a new problem.
It seems when cutting an object the final measurements are wrong.

The project length (x-axis) 400mm x width (y axis) 110mm with a radius of R55 and R25. The final cut part L 410mm and w 110mm. It is only x axis which is affected even though both axis share same radius. So 400mm becomes 410mm.

What appears that whenever I cut a part without radius the measurements are on spec.

    Please help

    Hi there,

I've never faced such an issue personally but I think you should check these few things:

    1) Is the computer fast enough for driving two motors at the same time ?

Remember a radius requires synchronizing two motors, and the computer must be able to supply two step/dir signals at the same time in sync in order to drive the two motors in sync, try to reduce the speed at the software by reducing the frequency, if you're doing 45KHz in Mach3 then, try to lower the frequency to 25KHz and see if you get same/better results.

    2) Do you have the same exact resolution on both X and Y axes ?

    3) Make sure there is no interference between the two motors especially if their cables are close to each other.

    4) Check wire tension once it gets hot. (i don't mean voltage)

Try to post some pics so it'll be easier for the others to help you.

    I hope it helps !
