MasterCam X4 output to Hardinge 42 Cobra

    Hey guys,
I almost have this machine ready to run, I just need help outputting the MasterCam file to my controller. The Cobra has a GE Fanuc 21-T and I know how to prepare that for incoming code. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.
There are other machines we do this with in the shop but they all have different controllers and some use proprietary programs to do this, so we are unsure of how to proceed.

    Thanks guys.

Is there a question in there someplace? I must have missed it.

Are you saying that none of your other machines have Fanuc controls?

How do you currently transfer a program to another machine? Do you use a floppy disk? Do you use a USB thumb drive? Do you use compact flash card? Do you have the machines wired on a network? Do you use a RS-232 cable? What is the software you use for the other machines called? Do you know how to set baud rate and parity for RS-232 communication?

I don't know what the other controllers are. One is a Bridgeport 3-Axis that I have yet to use. The other is a mill that someone made into a CNC capable machine, so both of those have weird controllers.

We are using the RS-232 connection directly from the computer with MasterCam X4 to the Fanuc controller on our Cobra.

I know how to set the Baud Rate and Parity on the controller and in MasterCam.

I am just wondering if there is much more that needs to be done on MasterCam or do I only need to do what the manual is telling me to on the controller?

Did you create a G-code program with MasterCAM?

Are you going to use the Cimco editor to send and receive files to the machine?

We have made G-Code with MasterCam. I am pretty sure we don't have Cimco.

Do you output from MasterCam or another way?

I use the Cimco editor that is bundled with MasterCAM. When you post your file, a dialog should open and you have the option to Edit and/or Send to machine. If you select Edit, if Cimco is installed the generated NC file should automatically open in the editor. If you select Send to machine, the Communications button is enabled and allows you to set up RS-232 for your machine. If you have Cimco installed and opt to send the NC file to edit, you can set up your RS-232 communications there.
