Background:
A friend of mine bought a milling machine with BT25 ATC spindle from an old guy in Texas really cheap earlier this year.
The old guy is no longer able to do any work due to health conditions and was the reason for selling it.
The old guy burnt the spindle motor and Yaskawa VFD but had a spare motor, 2 extra belts and a new Delta VFD-B and PG02 card and tossed them in on the deal.
The VFD works great and runs the 3HP motor like a champ.
The 100PPR encoder signals on the spindle motor (A/A + B/B) have been verified and appears to be working properly and we also tested the encoder from the burnt motor which is still in working condition.
We've checked the manual for the VFD and the PG02 card but neither one of us can figure out how to make it orient the spindle for tool changes.
We've been able to set the encoder count in the VFD and that's about it.
The CNC4240 controller has 2 lines associated with the orientation process, LINE1 goes high when in orientation mode, LINE2 goes high to signal an orientation request so we have confirmed the controller is outputting the correct signals.
ISSUES:
He needs to make the spindle orient for tool changing and the lack of information isn't helping.
Configuring the VFD to accept these lines and perform the orientaiton is what has us bogged down.
Plea for Help:
Does anyone have any experience with these VFD's who can give us some help?
