Transfer of Programs from PC to Machine

    Hi Everyone,

I have a machining center with a Fanuc Oi-Mate control that has a RS-232 25 pin socket on it.

I am having trouble understanding what are the various options to transfer programs from the PC to the machine. I found some products online that have a cable with RS232 at one end and USB at the other and which is really cheap - Is it as simple as connecting using this?

I was also told that a lot of people use a memory card connected to the machine through an adaptor. What kind of adaptor and memory card (compact flash?) exactly is required?
And which of the two above is a better option? I don't need any drip feeding, most of my programs are simple drilling/tapping which is made on a notepad and just needs to be copied onto the machine to avoid wasting time entering it manually - would I need any additional software to do this?

I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to this, so any help will be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

Back up and restore you can do by Both By RS 232 And By SRAM card or Compact Flash Card . What software you are suing for Back up Via RS 232 ?
