    Are all steppers DC?

Is there other than DC steppers?

    Thanks

Basically all steppers are constructed in the same manner, fed from a DC source and a pulse is used to index them, there is however a type, although constructed identically are used as synchronous motors on an AC supply, these are usually made to operate on 120vac and are identical to 2 phase 1.8° and 0.9° stepping motors.
They use a capacitor to phase shift the AC supply to the 2nd phase.
The characteristic is that they faithfully follow the frequency of the AC supply.
    At usually 72 & 36 rpm.
Due to the construction, you could feed them with DC and step them in the usuall manner, however, the voltage may pose a problem.
