Cool Made a Vacuum Table & Ejector Pump

Just finished the test run of my new vacuum table & ejector pump

To those who're not familiar with an ejector pump: creates a vacuum by using compressed shop air pushed at high velocity through a tiny nozzle and using the "venturi" effect to create the vacuum...
Why? well didn't have a vacuum pump at hand.

Though it's the first ejector pump I've built...

    here's the photos:
Sorry for the jury-rigging... the sound suppressor is just really improvised at the moment... so is the "gasket" (abused non-fitting pvc pipe...)
Just wanted to see if it's working before I invest more time.

Now that you've had it a while, can you tell us how well it works? I'd like to know your maximum cuts, feed and speed, etc. Thanks!

Well I'll report back with more solid info in the next few weeks.
Problem so far being that I was not able to source a fitting piece of rubber-gasket to seal of the table/work.
I guess I'll machine a new table with a 4mm wide grid-space. the 10mm seems to be a problematic size to find the gasket material.
The pump works quite well - but I have to improve the silencer

as soon as I've had the time to either make a table with 4mm slots or find 10mm stuff... I'll let you know.
So far I've used it a number of times, but I had to improvise on the mentioned aspects, and thus went to work quite slowly, as I didn't trust the improvised sealing that well.

Thanks for the update. I'm planning to build something similar myself, using .130" (3.3mm) vinyl window screen spline as the gasket. This stuff is dirt cheap over here, about $4.00USD for 25' (7.6M)

P.S.: Don't mean to insult with the imperial (metric) dimension format, I just work in an environment that runs both systems, often on the same part.

    Jd,
No insult taken but you must work in hell ... mixing metric and imperial stuff... that would give me some headache.
    I'm happy in metric-world.

and about the project: whatever you do - just design the table's slot-width according to sealing-materials you can actually get - not like I did with my wild-ass idea of 10mm gaps.
Luckily it doesn't take forever to mill such a table from aluminum. But I still have to redraw the thing.
