    Programming using 3-D

    Hello,

I'm currently having trouble trying to figure out how to program parts on our CNC Router. I'm inputting different drawing files into Alphacam and they are 3-D drawings. Does anyone know how to rotate the part and program that such part in 3-D? Also using Alphacam 7.5 so the software I'm using is out of date by a few years.

    Thanks,

Everything is easier to answer, if You attach an example... ;-)

How would I rotate and program a part like this?

    Re: Programming using 3-D

create (three) 3d poly lines from 0,0,0

    eg
    one from x 0 y0 z 0 to x 1000 y0 z 0
    one from x 0 y0 z 0 to x 0 y1000 z 0
    one from x 0 y0 z 0 to x0 y0 z1000

select rotate and then select all

un click the three poly lines before confirming the items to rotate

it will then ask you to select axis of revolution.

select the poly line you wish to rotate about

    enter rotation angle

I'm new to the 3-D aspect of Alphacam and don't have much knowledge in it yet. How do I draw a poly line in the Z axis? I only am able to rotate the part in the X or Y axis. The part I'm inputting is an IGES file and it doesn't have any lines that have points that I can use to program.

You don't need to draw polylines to rotate round the axis. Just select the axis you want to rotate round.

Did it ever happened to you that while rotating 3D parts using the regular rotate command, when you create a machining operation, it recognizes the Z axis inverted?
I've managed to solve this by using the 3D Part Rotation command instead.
