    Canned Cycles in Pathpilot

    Hi Folks.

I have a complex 3D shape I want to mill on the 4th axis in 6 x 60 deg settings.

I have in the past just copied and pasted the code - with the different A position aftereach section of code. But I would like a more elegant and quicker process.

I see in the Tormach operator manual page 112 - the A axis is not allowed to move as part of a canned cycle - does this mean it cannot be used in Pathpilot or am I misunderstanding this?

If so, is there another way to command a A move increment, and then return to top of programme?

    Cheers Keen

What about calling a subroutine with a 'A' parameter 6 times?

As I said - page 112 seems to preclude this.

I'm confused. I believe that the canned cycles being discussed on page 112 are G81, G82 and G83 (drilling). Do you actually want to turn the A-axis between pecks?

A subroutine is not a canned cycle

In fact, I think you can put subroutine with a "A" parameter in a
do/while loop and have a very compact repeated 3D profile
with A Indexed between profile passes

My apologies. I usually use my CAM programme to generate code and so my understanding of hand coding is limited.

Thanks PCW-Mesa for pointing out that a sub routine is not a canned cycle. I am studying it now and will try it out on my A axis job.
