Trouble with Y G54 location walking

I'm currently running Axis 2.7.0 and have recently started to have an issue where while machining a pocket my G54 is moving in the Y direction each pass I step down. It seems to do it for other operation/programs as well. It's very consistent and is about .010" per pass. I've ran this part before and didn't have any issues.

I program with Fusion360 and reprogrammed and posted the gcode and still have the issue. I'm not sure if this might be a cumulative error although I don't believe so as it's only in one axis and one direction. The other two aren't stepping. Anyone have any ideas where to troubleshoot. At first I thought it was the motor so I replaced it with a new one (Nema 42 with a larger holding strength) and it still has same issue. I also went through my ball screws and now have less than .001" lash in each. This leads me to believe it's something on the software/computer side and not mechanical.

Also using Geck g201x's for all my drives. Any help would be huge as I'm dead in the water til I sort this out. The last pocket I made was 1.25" deep and is supposed to be .700" wide and ends up being .760" wide at top and down to correct size at bottom.

Re: Trouble with Y G54 location walking

It might be worthwhile to check the coupler between the lead screw and the motor. I had something similar happen, and for me that's what the problem was.

Does it act any different climbing vs conventional milling? What happens if you do a loop between Y-2.5 and Y2.5 several times?

Have you tried swapping the drives between X and Y yet to see if you can get the problem to move? You should kill power to the Geckos first. Just swap the plugs and go from X-2.5 and X2.5 instead. Remember to put them back.

Just remember that there is always an answer, we just have to find it. I've never run across a machine that acts up because its evil, but they can have a pretty good sense of humor.

I had similar problems once upon a time and we had a hard time figuring out the problem. A lot of heavy experienced LinuxCNC people were involved and we tried almost everything possible.
It turned out to be a fluorescent light that disturbed a signal cable, even though it's was a high quality shielded cable. Got advised by the company were I buy all the equipment to add ground connectors in both ends of the cables and make sure the cable wasn't grounded via the machine chassis. I added one more ground connector (the servo end) for the cable shield and encoder. The machine has been running flawlessly ever since.
