    Mazatrol T4 goove cutting issue

... ok.. i just spent almost two days trying to cut a simple groove in a part on my QS 30 with a T4.

Im not an expert in mazak programming but am able to do most. Made grooves before altho always seems like a challenge.

    Here it is:
a .472 wide wide with an R.234 at the bottom ( an o-ring groove in a sence)
.197 away from the face starting at 7.283 dia and ending at 6.811 dia

Using a GROOVE OUT (blind , or closed ) option with trapezoid profile option, x starting point of 7.283, z starting point od .197, x finish point of 6.811 and z finish point of .197 with a end R of .234

Im using a sandvik 6mm round insert holder and use GROOVE OUT tool geometry with .236 cutter width and a R.118 tool tip.

Theoretically (as far as underestand) Mazatrol will automatically compensate for the TTR ( which is the best feature of mazak for me) and since the insert R is smaller than the part profile it should work - right?

Well nomatter what i do it gives me an "invalid tool width in groove" error message.

I tried to foul the controll by changing the tool widths and insert radiuses to smaller once and - for the most part - it will work in "figure check" but not in simulation or auto run....

What am i doing wrong.....ma interpreting something incorrectly?

The problem I you have is because with groove with is .472wide and the R.234 if you multiple it by 2 it's way over .472 ...... there is your alarm come from.

    R.234 x 2 = .468 which is less than .472

im going to try the G-code option and see if it works ... Any other suggestions?

only .004 flat then, it must be your TPC. Change the overlap to 0 or .001 it should work, most Mazak overlap default as .010.

i tried that.....as far as i can tell it is parameter U 38 ( Row U6 third column)

I've changed it to several different settings including 0 and still no result.

I also tried Manual Programming (we are pretty fluent here with G codes) and it seems everything works good but the G2 and G3 commands won't run .... "illegal G code input"
