Where to get a high hp VFD?

Looking for a 5hp to 7.5hp single phase input VFD. I know Leeson makes one thats 5hp but I really need a 7.5hp. Anybody know where I can find such an animal?

    Thanks

You can purchase an oversized 3 phase unit, and run the 7.5 HP motor on single phase input. There are threads on this site that deal with this topic, if you search for VFD.

By doing this wouldn't you put an extra load on the rectifier due to a single phase source? What kind of derating do get from a 7.5hp drive? All the drives I have found (Baldor, Yaskawa, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, AB, ABB, etc...) require 3ph for 5hp and above.

WEG make a special line of larger ones above 5hp for 1ph but they cost quite a bit more.

    Protman16 (Trevor),
Nice bumping into you again. I appreciate your responce on my "driving the knee mill" thread. Hope you can give me a little more insight into the 10X54 conversion.

I have a PDF document attached from Hitachi America which addresses the way to run there VFD from single phase "Even if they are not specifically specified to do so" just so "long as care is taken to properly upsize and apply the inverter."

Read the application note"Sizing Three-Phase Inverters for Single-Phase Power Applications" I think this will explain exactly how to do what you need to do with any brand, not only Hitachi VFDs. I found it extremely helpfull and answered some of my questions!!

    Enjoy
