    Fuling Inverter Spares

    A friend has managed to break his DZB200 inverter made in 2010.
    Two of the output FETs/IGBTs are shorted and the fusable input resistors are burned open circuit.
    This tripped the main breaker. Whether this was the original fault or whether somethining else tripped the breaker is yet to be determined.
    It's driving a router spindle.

    My question then is, are spares available for these, specifically the PCB with the rectifier and output drivers?

    In the meantime I've fitted an AT1 VFD, which works, mostly, but I'd like to repair the old one rather than have it go to landfill.

    I worked as a repair technician for seven years fixing welding equipment, many MANY, MANY of which were inverter types. It is very tempting to think
    'I'll replace those two IGBT's....and we'' be good'. Very often those failed parts are just the visual evidence of another larger fault. Alternately even if those new IGBT's or
    whatever fix the problem you'll find that the high energies that rifle through the device at the time of failure create other faults and often result in unreliable service.

    You have to think very clearly and critically before taking such repair action. Often the repair plain does not succeed or is temporary at best. Has it been the best use of your time and resources?
    More importantly is this in the best interest of your customer. Often the answer is no.

    On those occasions where we did such things was typically because the residual value of the equipment was just TOO high to ignore or that the customer really demanded it and was prepared
    for the potential reliability risks.

    For a Fuling inverter I'd say the residual value is not there. Do yourself a favor, save the money on a repair and buy a Delta inverter. I have several of my own and has bought twenty or so for others, and never had one blow
    up yet.

    I suspect you are correct. If the driver board were cheap enough and available I'd have given it a go just for my own curiosity. I've already replaced the inverter so he's back in production again, using its contol panel for speed and ON/OFF for the moment.
    This micro-processor board might be useful to someone. If only there were some markings as to where to apply voltages to test it. There are no useful marking on the silk at all.

    I think it will be become a source of spare parts. Those big capacitors will be useful for something. Probably.
